4.1.3 RemoteinstallationtoFLOW‐BUS
Some FLOW‐BUS modules have to be installed on the bus by means of another FLOW‐BUSmodule or a (personal)
computer.Thiscanbedoneasfollows:
WithaReadout/Controlmodule,seriesE‐7000orwithasoftwareprogramonthe PC thisnewmodulecanbe
searched.
The Reado
ut/Controlmoduleor PC‐programwill findthe firstfree node‐addresscountedfrom address 3 (3 is
firstfreeaddress).
Thisfreeaddressnumberwillbesendtothenewmodule,whichshouldbecomeactiveonthisaddress.
After a reset command, also send by the Readout/Co
ntrol module or PC‐program, the new module will be
operationalontheFLOW‐BUSsystem.
Makesuretoinstallonlyonenewmoduleatthesametime.
4.1.4 Installtobusonapre‐definednode‐addressorre‐addressinstrumentonthebus
InsomeapplicationsitisnecessarytoputFLOW‐BUSdevicesonpre‐definedaddressesbecauseoftheapplication
softwareexpectingthisdeviceonthisaddress(e.g.PLC‐applications).Thiscanbedoneasfollows:
(Installnewmoduletothebusasdescribedinthepreviousparagraphs.)

By means of the special menu in an E‐7000 module for digital instruments it is possible to (re‐) address
instrumentsonthebus.

especificmenupartandreadthePNA(PrimaryNodeAddress)number.
Fill‐intheaddressyouwanttheinstrumenttohaveonthebus.
TheE ‐7000modulewillcheckifthisaddressisalreadyoccupiedbyanotherinstrument.Ifso,youcouldremove
theotheroneandtryag
ain,orenteranotheraddress.
Themodulewillrestartandwillgetitsnewaddressfromthatmomenton.
BecauseitisnotallowedinaFLOW‐BUSsystemtohave2devicesonthesamenode‐address,at
(re)startoftheinstrumenttherewillalsobeacheckperformedifitsnode‐address(inmemory)is
alreadyoccupiedbyanotherdevice.Ifso,theredLEDwillblinkslowly.Atthatmom
entthemoduleis
notoperationalonthebus.Youfirsthavetore‐installit.Theeasiestwaytodothisistopressthemicro
push‐buttonontopoftheinstrumentuntilthegreenLEDstartsblinkingfast.Afterreleasingthebutton
theinstrumentwillinstallitselfonth
ebusautomaticallyonafreeaddress.WhenthegreenLEDis
burningcontinuously,theinstrumentisoperational.
Ifyoutakeoneormoremodulesoutofyoursystem,orifoneormoremodulesdonotgetpower,be
carefulinstallingnewmodules,orchangingtheconfiguration.Thissituationmayoccurifyoutake
modulesoutforservice.Ifyoudon’tchangetheconfiguration,youcanreplaceyourse
rviced
instrument/moduleinyoursystemwithoutanyproblem.Mostlynewmoduleswillgetthefirstfree
address,countedfromaddress3(3willbethefirst).Thiscouldbeanaddresswhichshouldnotbe
occupied(e.g.fromamodulewhichhasbeentaken‐outforservice).Inthatcaseinstallth
enewmodule
andre‐addressitasdescribed,toavoidFLOW‐BUScommunicationproblems.
Whenconnectinganinstrument/moduletotheFLOW‐BUS,makesurethattheinstrument/moduleisin
power‐offmode.Afterconnectiontothebusyoucanswitchpoweron.Atpower‐uptherewillbea
checktoavoidthesituationoftwomodulesonthesamebusaddress.Thisisimportantfo
rerror‐free
bus‐communication.
