1.2 MULTIBUSTYPES
In2000Bronkhorstdevelopedtheirfirstdigitalinstrumentsaccordingtothe
“multibus”principle.Thebasicpc‐boardontheinstrumentcontainedallof
the general functions needed for measurement and control, including
alarm,totalizinganddiagnosticfunctions.IthadanalogI/O‐signalsandalso
anRS232connectionasastandardfeature.In a
dditiontothisthere isthe
possibilityofintegratinganinterfaceboardwithDeviceNet™,Profibus‐DP
®
,
Modbus,FLOW‐BUSorEtherCATprotocol.
Thefirstgeneration(MBC‐I)wasbasedona16bitFujitsucontroller.Itwas
supersededin2003bytheMultibustype2(MBC‐II).Thisversionwasalso
based on the 16 bit Fujitsu controller but it had several improvements to
theMBC‐I.On
eofthemisthecurrentsteeringofthevalve.Itreducedheat
productionandimprovedcontrolcharacteristics.ThelatestversionMultibuscontrollertype3(MBC3)isintroducedin
2011.It isbuildarounda72MHz 32bitNXP ARMcontroller.IthasADand DAco
ntrollerson boardwhichmakesit
possible to measure noise free and control valves without delays. The internal control loop runs 6 times faster
comparedtotheMBC‐IIthereforecontrolstabilityhasimprovedsignificantly.Italsohasseveralimprovedfunctions
